Where to next?

I’ve booked my flight to Cancun for June.  I just can’t decide where to go in the Yucatan.  (Definitely not Cancun, by the way.)  Any suggestions?  Any out of the way destinations that someone can recommend?  I would appreciate any helpful hints or adventures I haven’t had.

Make a great first impression…

The use of proper English is becoming a lost art.  With the inundation of abbreviations and acronyms through text messaging and e-mails in our high tech society, many people have lost the ability to construct a well-written statement that effectively communicates an intended message.  While this shortcoming may not seem important in day-to-day activities, proper grammar, punctuation and spelling is necessary to advance in any area.  While you may demonstrate exceptional skills in your field of expertise, if you cannot communicate these skills in a professional manner, you will be overlooked for the person who can.

Whether you are a student trying to improve your grades, a graduate student writing a thesis or dissertation, or a professor submitting a research article or grant proposal, the first impression you make when you present that paper will be a permanent one.  Don’t make the mistake of submitting an important document without having a professional editor check it for possible errors that can make the difference between success and failure.

Academia – Instructors

As a student, or scholar and researcher, you want your work to be judged on merit, not your English writing skills. I will help you communicate more clearly, revising your manuscript for clarity, word choice, and idioms, as well as grammar and spelling.

As I specialize in ESL editing, I am able to transform an ESL client’s writing into standard English that reads like the work of a polished, native English writer. Specifically, I follow professional ESL editing, proofing, and formatting on your piece of writing whether you’re working on a research article or grant proposal:

  • Documentation: quotation, citation, and works cited formatting
  • Footnotes and end notes
  • All grammar issues, including run-on sentences, comma splices, fragments, verb tenses and agreements, etc.
  • Stylistic weaknesses, such as wordiness, passive voice, awkward constructions, etc.
  • All punctuation, capitalization, and use of italics
  • Appropriate tone
  • Appropriate diction
  • Optimum organization (unity, coherence, logic, etc.)
  • Paragraph structure (order of thoughts, length, transitions, etc.)
  • Sentence structure (clarity, syntax, subordination and coordination, parallelism, etc.)
  • Redundancy or repetition

Academia – Students

Do you have a great idea for a paper or report, but can’t seem to get it right on paper?  I can improve your assignment in order to give it a well-written edge that will be noticed by your instructor.  Improving sentence flow and eliminating all spelling and grammatical errors will make your paper stand out above the rest.  With a fast turn-around time, you can get your papers turned in on time with the professionalism they deserve.

Additionally, I provide help in theses and dissertations for graduate students. Proficient in editing and proofreading all areas of academic writing, I will help you excel in your classes while learning the essence of writing through marginal comments that explain my editing.
